New London

Named after the London in England, and located on the river… you guessed it, Thames (pronouncing the h though), New London is a nice walkable coastal town with a variety of historical museums, several parks, and many restaurants .

Here are a couple of options for vegans, right downtown:

The Social Bar + Kitchen

This is a big restaurant located right on Bank St, where much happens in New London. It’s not far from the water, if you want to go for a walk afterwards, and it’s also close to the train station and the ferry.

There is one vegan appetizer: the Brussel sprouts with delicious balsamic glaze. There is one vegan burger, made from chickpeas and made extra crunchy with Panko breading. The fries are quite good! The day we were there, one of the specials was also vegan: Tofu Tacos. The staff was really nice, they have some games and a pool table in the restaurant, and if you sit in the back you can see the Thames river!

They have musical events, trivia nights and drag brunch events too! Check out their website to get the latest details here.

The Blue Duck

Really close to the train Station, the Blue Duck has a large indoor area as well as a terrace. Notice that the train goes right by, so it might get loud.

The falafel were creamier than what I’m used to, but tasted good. I had a side of fries that were nice and cripsy!
