Marrakesh

Two restaurants offering vegan versions of traditional Morrocan dishes… with a view!

The old Medina of Marrakesh can be a labyrinth, but these two restaurants with rooftop terraces and delicious traditional Moroccan dishes turned vegan will be worth the effort finding them!

Chez Zaza

After several flights of steep stairs, you’ll find the pretty rooftop terrace with a view of a small plaza. The shade and breeze up there is a blessing, as the city can get really hot.

We had a tagine and a pastilla (phyllo filled with veggies) and both were delicious and filling.

There are not many tables here, be aware if you are a large group.

Souk Kafé

Another rooftop terrace with a nice breeze and a view, with tables and both seating full of cushions and nice decor.

We had “briouates” for appetizers (phyllo filled with spices and veggies, they have meat and cheese ones, so specify just veggies for the vegan option) and then a vegan couscous and both were very flavorful.

This place also has tasty smoothies. Make sure to up your drink budget because of the heat, and because you have to be careful with water and might be tempted to drink more sodas and smoothies!
