Two Peruvian Drinks

Two typical Peruvian drinks to try during your visit are the pisco sour and the chicha morada.

You will easily find both in every restaurant!

The emblematic cocktail of Peru is the pisco sour. The base of this drink is pisco, a high-proof spirit made from fermented grapes, and some lime, hence the name. There is also some sweet syrup, Angsotura bitters, and the traditional recipe contains raw egg white. We never had a problem asking for it without the egg white, for a vegan version: “sin huevo, por favor”.

The chicha morada is a non-alcoholic drink made from purple corn, hence its color. It also contains sugar and lemon juice… a little bit like lemonade… but made from corn! Very refreshing!
