Oshkosh

Whether you’re in Oshkosh for EAA, a music festival, or just a Wednesday night, there are quite a few restaurants where you can find vegan options, right downtown. Here are some of my favorites:

New Moon Cafe

The New Moon is located in a historic building downtown Oshkosh, and has so many beautiful plants it’s a great place to be during seasonal affective disorder time! They have live music, art for sale on the walls, open mics, and many vegan options on their menu!

Between the green pepper and the onion, the George is one crunchy vegan wrap! The hummus is not very thick and acts almost as a dressing.

If you’re downtown, check them out, they have vegan breakfast bagels, and sandwiches and quesadillas (with hummus!) for lunch and dinner!)

Manila Resto

Manila is probably my favorite restaurant in town. There are a few vegan options at this Filipino restaurant but I always get the same thing because it’s so very delicious and I can’t quite find it like this elsewhere: the Ginataang Kalabasa (squash in coconut milk with green beans), pictured here. If you have room for starters, you can’t go wrong with the Spring Rolls: super fresh with a delicious peanut sauce.

Manila Resto is located right downtown, there’s plenty of street parking nearby, and they have live jazz music playing on Fridays and Saturday featuring John Harmon!

Bar 430

I ended up at this bar/restaurant by chance (another place I wanted to try was closed) but I was so happy when I asked if they had vegan options and they named more than one!

The burger was good, and the fries were as crispy as can be. But the most delicious part of the meal was the tacos made with quinoa chorizo: delicious!

The “bar” section of the place is quite large and beautiful.

It is located right downtown, has seating outside when the weather is nice (right on Main Street) and unisex bathrooms.

Gardina’s

Another restaurant right downtown that can accommodate vegans.

Nothing is labeled vegan on the menu, but the staff is always very nice and can help you modify some of dishes: we tried the Farro Caprese Salad (hold the cheese and prosciutto) and pasta with crispy kale, cherry tomatoes and pine nuts. Everything was very tasty!

This restaurant has a store in the back with wine, olive oils, kitchen items etc. Don’t forget to check it out!
