Milano vegan

Milano is a busy city, with so many food options. I was happy to find that it was relatively easy to find vegan options, even in regular restaurants. But the city also has vegan restaurants! Here are some options, in various parts of the city.

And if you’re looking for what to do while in Milano, click here!

Radice Tonda

This all-vegan restaurant named “the bald radish” has two locations, one north of the Duomo, near Porta Venezia (pictured here), and one more to the south-east, near Porta Romana.

The food was delicious, and I was so happy to find vegan dessert!

We opted for the large plate, where you can choose three items from the selection for 11 euros. The smaller plate contains two choices for 7 euros. The rice with veggies was fantastic, and the beans very flavorful and the “meatballs” were spinach-based with a tomato sauce, quite tasty too!

The portions were generous too, I was not able to finish it all… mainly because I wanted dessert!

Le Striatelle di Nonna Mafalda

If you explore the canal section of Milano, you’ll find that there are many restaurants right on the canal, they get quite busy and can be expensive. I’d suggest eating in the main street leading to the canal, and maybe later having ice cream while walking along the canals.

I found a vegan option at Le Striatelle di Nonna Mafalda, which has indoor and outdoor seating, and walls decorated with photos of Italian movie stars.

They had several options, including one with tofu and vegetables, but I had vegetables and olives on bread, and it was fantastic!

Chateau Dufan

If you’re exploring Chinatown or are headed to the Fabbrica del Vapore for an art show, check out this Asian restaurant at the end of Via Sarpi.

We were there on a Wednesday, and much was closed in the street, but we were happy to find this restaurant open and with delicious vegan options.

Their specialty is ramen, but it was a hot day, so we opted for dumplings: both the mushroom and the mixed vegetables options were very tasty.

La Piadineria

I don’t often recommend chains, but sometimes, in a big city like Milano with so many things to do, looking for a restaurant with vegan options can be a pain if you haven’t planned in advance.

So, if you’re in a pinch, try La Piadineria: there are many locations throughout town, it’s inexpensive, easy, and it’s good food, so I included it here.

“Piadina” is the name of the bread and of the sandwich you make with it, kind of a toasted flatbread, here filled with hummus, veggies, and arugula.

They carried a brand of soda that is from Italy: Lusiria. There are many different flavors and it’s one of the best sodas I’ve ever had!
